Weekday vs Weekend

#

For a quieter and more relaxed experience, plan your visit on weekday mornings, especially Tuesday through Thursday. Weekends and midday hours tend to be busiest, with longer lines and larger tour groups. Early mornings and late afternoons are generally less crowded, allowing you to enjoy the art and monuments at your own pace.

Peak season vs low season

#

Peak season runs from April through October, as well as during major holidays like Easter and Christmas, when crowds and ticket demand are highest. For a more peaceful visit, consider coming in the low season—November through March—when Florence is less crowded and the basilica feels especially serene. Spring and early autumn offer pleasant weather and moderate crowds, making them ideal for most travelers.
